:: About COM Diving :::: General Information ::The City of Midland Diving Team is a non-profit organization for Divers of all levels. Diving improves balance and coordination as well as mental awareness. Beginning classes emphasize basic movement and balancing skills and progress to more complex skills as soon as basic skills are achieved. There is a level of participation appropriate for ALL divers within the program. :: Instructor ::John Proctor has over ten years experience in the sport and has spent many years working with and developing the skills of young children. :: Certification ::American Red Cross First Aid and CPR, also Safety Certified by United States Diving. :: Cost ::The cost is dependant upon the practice level in which the child participates. There is a team registration fee of $35.00 for each diver as well as a yearly registration with United States Diving. :: Schedule ::Practice schedule depends on which workout team your child participates. Teams practice from two to fie days per week from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. :: Competition ::All levels will be encouraged to compete on some level. Meets will take place at least once a month. Sufficient notice will be given for away meets. :: Off Campus P.E. ::MISD has approved COM for Junior High PE credit. Your school counselor can give you more information about this program. Attendance is monitored and grades are provided to the schools. Silver team and above are eligible for off campus PE. However, these teams are not entry level. Diving experience is required for silver, gold, and the elite teams. Students wishing to earn PE credit should join the program in the spring or summer to allow ample time prior to the first semester of Junior High School to develop the skills required. |
